Odd little flower on this ping

First time I've seen one of them do this. Looks like it was preparing to lasso a bug.

I never figured that out. I probably should have torn the flower apart to find out when I had the opportunity. Meant to post this pic a couple weeks ago but kept forgetting. The flower is now dead and gone.
