P x apuana (P. vulgaris x P. mariae)

I thought apuana was its own species...related to mariae and vulgaris, but...

Beautiful flowers though. Been trying so hard to get temperates to grow well for me, but it's been a long time since I had anything flourishing enough to flower.

Bonjour

actually P.apuana is a species apart .
the fact that it's a hybrid is only a guess

for me your P. x apuana is not one, the throat of the corolla has nothing to do with the typical form, just may be a P.vulgaris subsp vulgaris

see here the real P.apuana http://fern72.free.fr/siteweb/donnees-monographie/apuana.html

Or

It's a hybrid and it's only a guess that it's a species.

Taxonomy is like that, today's guess rules :banana2:

I do not see on your photo a P.apuana ,sorry.

there is no real proof that she is a hybrid , the taxonomy is not only based on pylogenetics but also on karyology, palinology, the study of seeds, etc. and of course on the morphological description .

the pylogenetic is actually just the search for an ancestor .

but can you have arguments,on the fact that it is a hybrid ?
