I don't what the chances are of severed leaves falling into wet or moist media in nature.  Keep in mind that Mexican Pinguicula are not bog plants, but rather are found in nature growing as lithophytes or semi-epiphytes (sometimes as straight epiphytes) on the side of cliffs, mossy tree trunks and other unlikely locations.  Just look Fernando Rivadavia's "postcards" for more clarification.  I would like to think I have learned a lot about Mexican Ping culture by reading these
