So much so that it was almost painful !
 
They look like the cactus pads for sale at the store in the produce department. I thought a prickly pear had longer spines, closer together.
 
You are prolly right pill. That is just what my great grand dad called them. They grow like weeds out here.

those grow wild in Texas too. Its just some kind of Prickly pear im sure. maybe a Hybrid
