Alright I thought I'd post in here with a few notes on this SASE. First of all, everyone sending your SASE, you might want to put extra postage on the one that your seeds will be sent, so that bubble wrap can be put around the packet of seeds. B. liniflora crushes VERY easily in the postal machines, I've had seed sent 3 times without bubble wrap and everytime arrived crushed. The best way to send it is in a bubble mailer.
Now here are some growing instructions for it, from my own experience!
1. Soil mix should be 3:1 or 4:1 sand to peat, Byblis like it very sandy and won't grow well in other mixes, at least for me.
2. For germination, sow seeds on the soil mix, keep just moist and put in a ziploc bag to raise humidity. Germination is best when temps are over 80F. Usually fresh seed germinates within 7-14 days.
3. Once seedlings germinate for you (hopefully!!), begin to harden them off to lower humidity levels. They are very susceptible to a fungus that kills them when young, so if you don't do this they will most likely die from it. I've lost many seedlings by leaving them in high humidity too long.
4. Finally, once they get going, make sure the plants are grown like a nep. They like the soil moist, but not standing water. As a general rule of thumb, if grown like a nep, these plants will be very happy! They should reach flowering size in as little as 6 weeks if grown well and happy, and once flowers are produced they self-pollinate and are annuals, so save the seeds and share with other TF members the extras
I might have some up for SASE in a few months when my seedlings grow up, so be on the lookout
