Hey: The stylidium isn't carnivorous...or is it.

SDCPs, the flower has glands similar to Drosera, it is quasi-carnivorous IIRC
the leaves on the flowers stalk though, that is odd.... ive never seen them do that... maybe a form of false vivapary?

suite

stylidium is a new carnivorous plant

see here the S.assimile carnivorous glands

@Jeff:

You must have a different species from mass. I don't see any glands on his ???

His is a different variation of the species. He has S. assimile, mine is S. debile.

Where is the carnivorous part on yours?

agreed. Probably the lack of good lighting (causing a lack of dewy-ness). I dunno..

Not trying to hijack, but S. debile seems to have it's carnivorous glands on the the flower and the pedicel.

You can see the pedicel is covered in glands, so is the "trigger" and the sepals.

It seems mass' flower stalk is showing false vivipary.

One more question :-D

Does the trigger trigger any action? Such as a burst of pollen?

The "trigger" is the male and female reproductive structures (stamens and stigma, style, ovaries) fused into a floral column if I'm not mistaking. When the pollinator lands on the flower this triggers the structure to spread pollen all over its dorsal side. The trigger is pressure sensitive. Nifty

Pretty sure their still considered protocarnivorous or carnivorous due to protease enzymes used.
