amount of time for contact?

hey guys,
When you do giveaways, what is the general amount of time after it closes that you wait to hear from people? I sent two pm's and haven't heard from those winners. I would like to get the seeds out to people asap, and was wondering about picking two "runner-ups" that are closest to those numbers picked.

I would give it a week tops..
people can be busy, and a few days to reply is reasonable,
but if someone cant be bothered to write within a week, then "next"..
