I sometimes find myself wondering why Brocchinia is considered a carnivorus/semi-carnivorous Bromeliad when Aechmea Fasciata (Urn Plant) is not. The latter also seems to have the crumbly, waxy deposit on it's leaves that the former has, Aechmea also has a very pronounced central water cup - very capable of catching lots of prey that would lose it's footing on the leaves. Both plants (I presume) rely on bacterial decomposition rather than enzymes to break down and digest their prey. It's hard to see any major differences between the two, really.
