Ron Paul 2008 Revolution

I thought it was republicans like huckabee, not clinton, who wanted to force things like bans on gay marriage an abortion on the states by way of the federal government not the other way around.

not republican versus democrat discussion....hell i hate Bush.......Ron Paul is 100% for states rights. its up to the states to decide wiether they wish to allow abortion or gay marriage.............while he apposes both i firmly believe he would shoot down any federal law for banning both. he would pursue banning it in his own state but the other 49 are left to make up their own minds. Hiliary wants to take away as much thinking as possible. she wants schools to raise kids, not parents. she wants more and more and more government programs, the likes of which are causing more problems than they are fixing such as our current wellfare system.

do i agree with all Ron Paul stands for? hell no but atleast he's willing to let me raise my own kids and thinks laws should be made at the local level and not the federal..........

as for the republican versus democrat thing...............Ron Paul isnt a republican, he is a constitutionalist and Hillary sure in the hell aint a Democrat, she is a socialist. republican and democrat are worthless terms anymore. the line between them is so damn blurred its not funny, and cant be used to segrigate beliefs anymore.

another thing.....i am interested in having a president that most the current "democrates" and a chunk of the "republicans" in congress hate. why? i would rather my tax dollars go twords paying them to fight with each other than paying them for getting anything done............historically speaking things start to go to chit when you get a president and the majority of the congress all thinking together and passing crap left and right..........a congress that doesnt accomplish anything is a good congress..............

I tend to think that there are 4 parties these days. There are the religious republicans who seize the votes of christians. There are the fiscal republicans who actually don't want to inject their own agendas. There are the special interest democrats/republicans. Special interest candidates don't even fall into dem/rep anymore. Then there are the true somewhat liberal democrats.

The second and fourth are pretty much dead unfortunately. I wouldn't mind a fiscal conservative even though I'm a democrat, but gay marriage is a big topic for me. That's something that should be recognized as a civil right, and made nationally legal. I don't care if it's against your religious beliefs, those should be kept separate from law. If the hardcore christians are right, then they're all going to hell anyway. America is not founded on christianity, it's founded on the rights of people. Any law denying a civil right is an unamerican law.

So I'd have to break from Paul there. Some issues should be left to states, others to the nation as a whole. It's not an amazing revelation.

Abortion is a topic where I can see both sides of the issue. I support the pro-choice movement, but I'm not as zealous about it as I am about gay marriage. Suppose my opinion might be stronger if I was a chick. That, or if I had just knocked up a girl an hour ago. Although, partial birth abortion's kinda sick.

Now, everyone hates spending money. I know. But seriously. We need taxes. They pay for all the public stuff you use. Quit whining. Now, I wouldn't be against a plan to make sales tax progressive, but that'd be a hell of an undertaking.

The second amendment is a relic. It's time we realize that. The forefathers had some great ideas, but they didn't see the 20th century coming. The freaking amendment says "in order to keep a well regulated militia." We don't need a militia anymore, it's time that gets revised, that's all I'm saying. Nobody needs an M-16 or a mac-10 for hunting or even self defense.

So yeah. Ron Paul revolution, I don't think so. Though he's better than some of the fools up there.

the 2nd amendment isnt dead..................look at the IRA..........couple hundred individuals with small arms F'ed up the British government for years. the 2nd Amendment is what gives the rest of them teeth. if the 2nd amendment only applies to muzzle loading rifles of the era than freedom of the press only applies to a hand set type press and speech. the founding fathers ment for the average citizen to be as well armed as any federal army and if you dont believe that PLEASE read the letters Jefferson and Washington and some of the others sent back and forth. also the right to bear arms isnt a right given to us by the government on their whim............its the right of the ppl as human beings just like the freedom of speech or the freedom of religion.

Unfortunately I fear except for ron paul, there is a wind from every candidate to erode states rights… it just depends on what. And im not too keen on ron paul either.

The second amendment… we won our nationhood in a guerrilla war… of course we want our citizens to fight for themselves- that’s how we got here today. But nuclear weapons and tanks did not exist back then, either, but yu don’t hear any private citizen asking for those anyways so the point I suppose is moot.

If people can beat America in a guerrilla war, America can beat anyone in a guerrilla war!

As for hillary (why ARE female candidates reffered to by their first name and men by their last? When have you heard bush called george? ) i have not heard about newyork state suddenly becoming socialist under her govenership.

Hillary(called such to distinguish her from her hubby, just like Bush is often referred to as "W" to distinguish to him from his dad)was big on becoming senator to further her ambitions to be president....hell she was making rumblings about being president when her hubby was still in office. she is a socialist. plain and simple, thats easy to see cause of her own words, the book she wrote and her history. as for New York not becoming a socialist state while she is in congress. well, thats cause she is in the federal guberment not the state, she is trying to change things on a national level, not just New York......and for the record...New York City elected her for congress, most of New York outside of the major cities wanted nothing to do with her.....just like most the state isnt interested in most the crazy buggers to gome out of the cities anywhere in the states be it New York, Pennsylvania, California or Montana.............hell i hate most the idiots in the state legilature here that come out of the cities in the state....most are out of touch with reality

BTW main reason im against Hillary is NOT cause she is a democrat, hell when it comes down to it having Ron Paul as president wont change much during his presidency if(and thats a big if) he was elected. what Ron Paul in the president seat would change is give most the current politicians a beotch slap in the face and maybe get some good strong states rights type candidates to run and actually get into congress where change for the good can happen. what scares me most about Hillary for president is the democrat controlled congress at the moment. a democrat president and a democrat congress is a bad thing, just like i believe the republican president and republican congress was a bad thing a few years back........

Freedom of speech never put a hole through an innocent person's head. That's why it will never be fought. Guns can and have. MANY times. The US is under absolutely no threat of internal uprising or invasion. None whatsoever. There is no legitimate reason to own an assault rifle or a submachine gun. The only thing those weapons have brought the country is violence.

Sucks for your friend Finch. Icy roads suck.

guns kill ppl like pencils misspell words or a spoon makes ppl fat.

you seem to know exactly jack about firearms and more importantly the nothing about the psychology of the human animal.........the US is prolly alot closer to an internal uprising than you would like to believe. alot of crap is going to come to a head in the next 20 years. as far as an invasion, its currently going on as far as illegal immigration. hell the reason Japan NEVER invaded and occupied Hawaii but just took out the military base is because half all all homes on the island had firearms and the Japanese knew this. the Japanese would not accept the losses that it would take to control Hawaii, and given what we know about the losses Japan was willing to take to win the war that speaks volumes. Pear Harbor was 66 years ago this month, what on this earth really makes you think things have changed so much in a lil more than half a century? private citizens with guns scare the hell out of governments and that is a very good thing.

another thing is that global warming is happening. man isnt causing it the sun is. and because of that the climate is going to change. the bread baskets of the world are going to change. food and water have been fought over since we were in caves and it will happen again. may not happen in 20 years, may bee 1000 years are more but the fact is it will change. since modern man has been on this earth, north Africa changed from a veritable eden to one of the largest deserts in the world.

If Billary gets elected, doodoo will hit the fan. At least in my part of the country.
Rattler, you're right on the money about uprising etc.

man isnt causing it the sun is

I don't think Hillary really has a chance. Although she may have the lead among the Dems, way too many people throughout the country have a sincere hatred of her and all she stands for. Seriously, think of a time when so many people have HATED a single candidate. Sure theres people that like her, but there are way more people who would absolutely paint the wall with their brains if she got elected, me included.

I am growing continuously tired of this election already, there really aren't many good candidates. I myself am Republican, but think that neither side has anybody worthy of the job. I will say I'm very proud of Kucinich, hes my congressman :-D Even if he loses the Presidency, he will always be the congressman of our district.

And whomever said Sarah Kerrigan for president in '08, I wouldn't mind becoming a part of the collective either. I mean, it would probably be better then if Hillary became president.

FINALLY someone besides me realizes this...

And me! We do live on a planet afterall; not a regulated laboratory where all conditions are kept exactly the same until the end of time. Temperatures rise, temperatures fall. The only things that change are the species that adapt and move on with their lives.

Seriously, think of a time when so many people have HATED a single candidate.

Seriously, George W. Bush.

xvart.

"guns kill ppl like pencils misspell words or a spoon makes ppl fat."

Guns don't kill people, people kill people. A gun just makes it a hell of a lot easier to kill a person. And assault rifles and submachine guns are designed for killing people. Not animals.

"Pear Harbor was 66 years ago this month, what on this earth really makes you think things have changed so much in a lil more than half a century?"

Well, for one, Japan is a friend of ours now. Even Pearl Harbor was a fluke caused by miscommunication, and lack of preparation. Our radar was crude and understaffed. Our ships fired upon enemy vessels early in the morning, yet the communication was slow. These days we have geosynchronous satellites, patrol ships, and plenty of long range detectors all over our waters. We keep surveillance on threat countries.

We've come a huge distance in 66 years. In 1942, it wasn't clear that the entire force of the Allies could defeat the Axis powers. Nowadays the US has the most powerful Navy in the world. Given that a hostile invasion will have to come from the seas(a costly and difficult endeavor) we're pretty damn safe.

"since modern man has been on this earth, north Africa changed from a veritable eden to one of the largest deserts in the world."

The Sahara desert got dry because the monsoons moved south. It's been dry for 13,000 years. That's an isolated climate change. We're talking about the entire earth getting hotter in the span of decades or centuries, not millennia.

As for global warming, yeah, the sun contributes a lot. But humans are accelerating the change dramatically. The change is no longer linear. Since 1900, the average rate of heating has skyrocketed. We need to reduce our effect on this natural phenomenon or else we won't be able to keep up with the change.

Do you want to know the biggest threat to the USA? It's not terrorism, "socialist" candidates, gun control, weapons of mass destruction, illegal immigrants, internal uprising, or global warming. It's the fact that our internal commerce is becoming so weak that most of our economy depends on other countries.

i just want to add one thing, not really to do with the election, but more on the lines of right to bear arms, i come from a country where guns have been made illegal for people to own do to murder, you say the guns dont kill people but the people with guns do.
when in all actual reality, is it not the gun controlled by the person, that put the person to death?
unarmed person + unarmed person generally equals a fair fight
but when you throw a gun into the mix, does the gun not make it unfair just by it being in the hands of the posessor can itself put death to the opposer.
guns are a tool made to harm and kill.
ive been raised around them since i moved to the US
i respect them and when used for recreation (I.E. shooting ranges) are harmless
but guns DO kill people when used ON people BY people.
as far as the election goes, BAH, they are all a bunch of twits.
if anyone should be elected, it would be Ron Paul or Kucinich
i would generally say Obama seeing as he has SOME good views
but as people have said, he is inexperianced.
i hate politics..........
but hell, anything is better than bush?!
hell if i see another bush in office, its back to Norway for me :D
