Jogger runs mile with rabid fox locked on her arm
November 5th, 2008 @ 11:23pm

PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities in Arizona say a jogger attacked by a rabid fox ran a mile with the animal's jaws clamped on her arm and then drove herself to a hospital. The Yavapai County sheriff's office said the woman told deputies she was on a trail near Prescott on Monday when the fox attacked and bit her foot.

She said she grabbed the fox by the neck when it went for her leg but it bit her arm.

The woman wanted the animal tested for rabies so she ran a mile to her car with the fox still biting her arm, then pried it off and tossed it in her trunk and drove to the Prescott hospital.

The sheriff's office says the fox later bit an animal control officer. He and the woman are both receiving rabies vaccinations.

Would've loved to have been there when they popped the trunk! Video would be priceless!

The must've been funny looking to any passers-by

ran a mile? its hard to me to run a mile, but to run a mile with a fox on your arm? that's crazy.

LOL Indeed! Those When Animals Attack clip shows are great fun to watch! :-D
I wish they sold a DVD collection containing the 3 or 4 different ones I've seen.

"The reason I don't jog is because the Jogger always finds the dead body. You never find a dead body when you're just sitting in your living room, eating ice cream and watching porn." -Dave Atell

Instead of running a mile with it biting my arm, I think I would have found another, less painful, way to get the fox to my car. I would have grabbed it by the tail and introduced it's head to the nearest tree.

Tough lady!

Ouch I couldn't imagine running that long with a rabid fox on my arm though I can imagine the pain of the wound I got bit by a rabid cat and I had to get a series of rabies vaccinations no fun when your 9 years old I still got the scar from it.

Wow, and I thought I was big and bad for running marathons. This lady intentionally kept the fox locked onto her arm.

Sounds like a great reason to jog, actually. If she didn't jog regularly, do you actually think she'd have had the endurance to make it all the way to her car? ;)

You know, I bet when she went out to run and make sure she still looked foxy, that's NOT what she had in mind....

Or at the very least strangled it dead and slung it over your shoulder, no?

lol

We are having sightings of a female African lion in a neighborhood. Maybe I could get it to bite me and I could have a nice fur stole. :D

Fryster, if you read my comment earlier, and DON'T get that pun, you need help.

From the descriptions given, they say its an African lion...perhaps an escaped illegal pet or zoo escapee?? They don't know because they have found no signs of it...only people's account of having seen it.

aint saying thats impossible.......it has happened in the past........just think a cougar would be FAR more likely and someone that hasnt seen one before or was startled by one might call it a female lion...hell ive done alot of hiking in cougar country and never seen one, just a couple kills and tracks.......
