BS.....read your history, the Israelis LEGALLY PURCHASED most of the land currently called Isreal after WWII, they paid a hell of alot of money for the land too, far more than it was worth had it been sold any other way....however the Arabic countries refused to recognize it....those that did ntot want to sell were allowed to stay on their own land and most that chose to stay were actually treated alot better under the Israelis than they had under the arabic rulers.....

who really are the intolerant ones?

Umm, first off I didnt even bring up the creation of Israel I am talking about its current actions but that doesnt support what you want to say so you discussed the issue you wanted to discuss. I am refering to the multiple war crimes ect. that have been recently committed and by recently I mean from the war of 1967 to the most recent invasion of the Gaza strip. My point is the continued support of a country which commits acts of violence against its neighbors, commits war crimes, denies citizenship to people who had lived on the land before they took it by force, and that threatens to destroy other countries is support of violence.

As for its creation the majority of palestians were told to leave. Point blank. Also several countries orginally offered them a place in their countries but the Palestinians wanted their own nation for their people, like the had before the British gave away their land. Also I dont know what history book you read but those who didnt want to sell were not allowed to stay they were thrown out with the rest of the Palestinians. Why dont we go with the history Israel teaches and just go with Israel was a land without people for a people with out land. Revisionist history Rules!!!

one question.........which side started the shooting?

those fall under cults, not religious sects.......

I would say that nearly all of the time, cults are religious sects. That is mostly a question of semantics. Can you refute that they have the same functions and basic elements? Cults have authorities, doctrines, propaganda, taboos, followers; all analogous to elements found in religious bodies. Cults often cite religion as their thesis, and appeal to spiritual concepts and ideals. They only differ in the scale and severity of their respective flocks and views.

one question.........which side started the shooting?

One more question - which side has a central authority that can issue an order to stop shooting?

cults generally involve secret knowledge thats been given to a select few individuals.....a religious sect is a different take on the same religion....like lutherans versus catholics or mormons.....

as for the stop shooting, im pretty sure if hamas quits launching rockets and the rest of the region quits talking bout wiping the nation of Israel off the face of the earth Israel would prolly back down....as is i cant see how they can and survive....if they show weakness they will be wiped out...the Arab countries in the area tell them as much every day......

That graph is hilariously slanted,too- what are the "populations" represented exacltly?? Both Arab and Jewish people are Semitic... however, not all Arabs are Muslims, whereas I would imagine all Jewish people are in fact Jewish. Arab is a sort of "species"(and I don't mean ANYTHING offensive by that, I mean it just like lily-white folks like me are human but manifest specific traits that are distinct from other humans who are by-and-large identical but for cosmetics) , not a religion, so that map is more poorly assembled and framed propaganda than any sort of useful illustration

actually the map doesnt include any nations such as Indonesia(the 4th mosty populated country in the world) where 86% of its 237 million ppl claim Islam as their religion.....if anything it doesnt show all of the predominatly muslim countries.....though i belive they are included in the numbers tally.......

There is quite a bit of secret knowledge in the Mormon church, as well as among Jehovah's Witnesses. I believe that Catholicism also has a number of secret rites and traditions. Are those organizations cults? Also, the Catholics, Lutherans, etc. don't recognize the Book of Mormon as Biblical truth, so far as I understand, so it's a bit more than a different take on the same religion; they have differing fundamental scriptures.

That's my point. There's Hamas, and then "the rest of the region," which is actually dozens of various parties and fiefdoms that all can't agree with one another and don't recognize each other's authority. The only thing they do agree on is that Israel is a threat to them (because Israel is actively antagonizing them all.) If they didn't have Israel's aggressions polarizing them, they would probably be too busy fighting amongst themselves to do much of anything else. But as it is, Israel is a strong uniform force come to bear against all of them. There's no one Palestine to say, "OK guys, Palestine says uncle; let's go draw up a treaty." There's no general leading a Palestine army to tell their government that it's a losing battle. It's a bunch of tribes; a bunch of farmers and traders pushed into poverty with no better options than to resist. Israel, on the other hand, is one army. There's a body of leaders that can call off Israel's side of the attack; there is no such leadership in Palestine.

Israel declared independence and said Arabs get out, the Palestinians fought back, just like the US would if Colorado or Montana declared Independence. There is nothing wrong with that. They recognized themselves as a country and fought back when part of it was being taken from them. As to the modern problem which side continues to occupy the others territory? Which side continues to take land from the other? Which side continues to commit war crimes against the other? Which side is composed of primarily of people relocated after WWII because Europe felt guilty for the German crimes against humanity and 1000+ years of antisemitism?

Hamas has committed to stop the violence if Israel returns to its 1967 borders, removes settlements and stops occupying Palestine, all reasonable requests if you ask me. The violence can end any day all that has to happen is the Israelis pull back to the borders they were given originally, but that cant happen treat the Palestinians like they are real people the west will never stand for that. I mean put brown people on par with white people that is unacceptable. Though that would also mean that Israelis would have to stop their ethnic cleansing and learn to live with what they have.

Also there are about 1 billion muslims in the world give or take a few hundred thousand depending on who you ask. So your numbers only show the Arab populations of the world.

A lot of garden variety conflicts and rivalries exploded because of the developed countries and their corporations trying to control petroleum reserves and from decades of Cold War jockeying between the US & USSR. We're as responsible as anyone and more responsible than those actually living there for a pack of dictators and Koran-thumpers being in power in the Muslim world.

Religion = my god
Sect = almost my god
Cult= any religion I don't like

:D

The only distinction I see between a cult and an religion is the size of the organizations bank account and/or their real estate holdings. All religions are based on servitude and hierarchies and "submitting" to something other than your own personal will.

If you've been around long enough you've even seen Scientology go from a "cult" to a "religion". It was initially invented by L Ron Hubbard as a bet (wager) between him and Issac Azimov that he couldn't dream up some religion and get people to believe it, well... tada!

I support everyone's right to their god fantasies but look what religion has "done for us"... I blame the religious leaders of the world for all of this nonsense.

I am really enjoying seeing the riots in Iran! I hope the people get stronger and finally kill the religious SOBs in power and the ridiculous "morality police" Basij? I'd have got my head cut off years ago - I'm an infidel from head to toe. According to my friend Assad back when we first met "you speak like devil man" lol! It's good that they've had enough of the religious government BS. I am hopeful we'll never have a Christian Caliphate here that we have to dispose of.

I tend to bash religions here, but can't deny that some people have been motivated to do great things by their religion. I'm not a spiritual person, but I honestly wish I could be. I could go through the motions, which is what most so-called religious people seem to do, but it wouldn't be real.

Religious people, like people motivated by any other belief, ought to do frequent self-exams. People who say theirs is a religion of peace need to explain why so many of their bretheren see violence as the solution. People who claim to be following the man who overturned the moneychangers' tables need to explain why they plant a big wet kiss on the *** of corporate bankers. People demand too little of themselves and too much of everyone else.

I'm not sure the everyday person knows how to do an examination of conscience or other psychological exercises. Most people only seem to know what they have been conditioned to know by their environment and tutelage. Never seeking further knowledge on their own by reading books (other than fiction I mean). Nowadays with the internet this is not as true as it was even 10 years ago, and this wider spread of knowledge is only a good thing, if indeed people are using the web for knowledge and not just porn and IMs! We never know what we don't know because we are always filtering our view of the world through specific channels that block out stimuli that doesn't fit our prerecorded universe. It generally takes a shocking event to jar people out of their treadmill existence to get them to start seeing and thinking differently unless they know the various techniques to change their reality tunnel at will.

Well, there's "Twitter" :D
Man I hate that word! If I never hear another news person say "this just in from my twitter account..." it'll be too soon.
