New Camera!

sea bear returns!
Today I picked up my X-mas/Birthday gift from my parents, a Nikon D5000. (I chipped in a little too, lol)

I still have a lot to learn, but here are some of my favorite shots from the course of today:

Comments and criticisms are appreciated.

That's a sexy camera.

Very Nice!

My old Nikon 5700 SUCKED I got so angry trying to use that with any effectiveness, even with a tripod it mostly gave me blurry images. :(

Glad your Nikon takes good shots!

WOW! fantastic photos! And beautiful coulour in the ceph and sarr!!! WOW! such clarity!! I want it!! :-D and there was a KITTEN!!!

Thanks a lot guys! :)
Nice comments like that really mean a lot to me, especially since this is my first day with the thing!

Swords- Sorry to hear about your Nikon. Makes me think they've improved a lot over the years if you were having so much trouble. They've won J.D Power customer satisfaction awards for like two years in a row now.

Yes, mine was 10 years old. It was expensive and only 5 MP but had terrible camera shake. Of course all the reviews of the time said that it was an awesome camera, I found it to be anything but. Nowadays online reviews are quite against the 5700 camera but back then nobody said anything negative like "good luck getting clear shots". lol

Nice pics, cute kitty, looks just like mine when he was younger.

I used a 5700 at work, I thought it was pretty good, was able to take great macros. Love that swivel lcd.

I liked the swivel LCD too but that was about the extent of my happiness with it. Mine never got a good focus even with a tripod. Maybe mine was defective? I never dropped it but maybe the store personnel did? I'd bought a load of add on lenses and getting good shots were like an accident! :(

I was the only person having a bad time at the orchid show trying to get their camera to work. Everyone else just walks up snaps a pic and continues on their merry way and I'm still trying to get an in focus shot of the first display. Maybe later versions of the 5700 had image stabilization?

Sweet pictures. I love the sharp focal point.

I use a Nikon D50 and like it, but quality the D5000 looks awesome.
