I just thought I'd share a few pics of my flytraps that I took Yesterday. They are just coming out of dormancy.

such a cute hognose! i want one! hahaha.

on another note, at first i thought it was a Aspidelaps lubricus lubricus. such a cool snake!

Very cool . . .

Between that hognose and your carnivorous plants, the survivorship of amphibians and insects in your yard is painfully low.

What do you have to say for yourself?

I love that hognose! Nice VFT too!

So are those planted in a big bog, or like, straight in the ground?! Also, I see you're feeding them well ;-)

That's crazy.. I couldn't imagine just going for a walk and seeing wild flytraps. That's one ugly snake though.. ick

BigBella, I got nothing to say for myself. VFT's and the hognose are both natural here. So the toads and the insects are on their own.

They are not planted straight into the ground. They are landscaped around the sidewalk with other cp's mostly pitcher plants, and they feed themselves.

I hae all kinds of cp's growing in my neighborhood including vft's, so I see them everyday that I ride my bike. AND THAT SNAKE WAS NOT UGLY!

I see that not only the VFTs are coming out of dormancy.... LOL, I can imagine the snake getting its head caught in that trap in the 2nd last picture :-))

VFTs + Snakes = Awesome.

You should have a picture with a snake looking at a cobra lily!

Beautiful hognose. I also thought it was a cobra at first.

You have these VFT's in your garden?!? Man, I envy that!

That snake's tongue is awesome. Your camera is really good.
