Ive lived in a lot of places but Appalachia is always home to me now...

I miss the East..that is downright gorgeous.

I haven't been through there in a long time, but agree it can be beautiful and your photo captures it. It isn't just the mountains, it's the mix of forest and fields; mountains and valleys, with none of them being overpowering.

Yea but cant you grow outside most of the year, i do have to say I want your climate.
Do you have any local beauty( as far as landscapes) not man made structures, im much more into the natural earth, take us a few shots and post here if you like.

Any one else, show us what your favorite part of you area ( nature wise ).:0o:
no people shots though, im sure every one has the prettiest mate available :-D

I remember the Blue Ridge parkway going down to Wilmington my first time, 4 years. Ago. We went through Shenendoah though, and it was like 5 hours!!! So I was pretty angry, lol.

yea i dont care to travel long distances on the BRP either , but will hookup with different legs of the parkway , when i travel along its path, it can get a bit boring after the second hour,:sleepy::sleepy::sleepy:

Took these at sunset in the backyard..

This is 10 seconds away, the CP/LFS bog is only a 5 min. walk from here. Ten minutes from Michigan State University (botanical gardens, parties, and bars), 4 casinos only and hour away. And let's not forget about the Great Lakes, beaches, and dunes.. OH MY!! And if your in the mood for a concert, Detroit is only an hour from here. Everybody that's anybody plays the 'Palace of Auburn Hills'. They don't call it "Detroit Rock City" for nothing. And no matter where you go in this state, your never more than 20 minutes away from pure wilderness. God I love Michigan!

I agree... I wanted to fall asleep but I was very energetic that day... All I remember is the one part of Shenendoa, and then stopping at a days inn.

Travis, those pics are amazing!

Hey thanks! I rowed the boat out there the other day and had lunch on the lake all by myself. So quiet and peaceful.. I took the boat across the lake afterwards and walked through some of the more swampy areas looking for CP's, but nothing.

Wow Z! I like the third pic the most. I will do some pics, but here we have a little bit of woods... more "natural" a half hour north.

That's very pretty, all 3 of you! I wish it looked half as good here.

my sister's little getaway in the hills of East Ky (about 20 mins from my place)
Not another house in sight, good times...

Sitting on that front porch having a good cup of coffee on a foggy fall morning is about as close to heaven for me as anywhere on earth :)

Well then...that does it Butch, I'm flying there and hanging a hammock on that porch. I've had enough of this no-grass stuff. Just gotta find me a banjo first..
