terrarium bleaching

Anyone have any info or ever actually use a little bleach to clean a 1o G. aquarium/terrarium?
Would like to use some to sterilize a glass and plastic one but wondered what negative chemicals are likely to stay and present problems to plants and fish.

Yes. I have used bleach on my heli tank to clean it out when it got a ton of algae growth.

I made sure to wash it out thouroughly afterwards. It didn't seem to cause any issues with my helis.

I think I used a 1:9 bleach to water. Rinsed it well and added a little extra dechlorinator just to be safe. Pretty much once it stops smelling like bleach it should be safe.

That's what I thought, that once a bleached tank dries, the chemicals should be inert. I just was hoping that if I was wrong I would hear about it.
