N. sibuyanensis appears to have given up. Anyone think it still has some hope?
<a href="http://s1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/?action=view&current=DSC_0051.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/DSC_0051.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Thats all I have for now. I will put up some more once I sow my N. mirablis var Echinostoma seeds.

Looking good, do we get to see one of the whole greenhouse? One more question, are those hard water stains on your plants if so could be the reason the sibuyanensis didn't make it.

I wanna say your N. X Aeneas (kampotiana X maxima) XX Isle de France is a male, and i love the pitchers it has!

Can we see some GH pics? Wondering what the whole thing looks like.

Ive had that problem for soo long and I have been trying to fix it but no luck. My greenhouse is cooled by a mister fan and out of all the filters Ive tried none of them have worked good enough.:-(
Maybe I should get it hooked up to a RO system ?????
If anyone has any suggestions on filters or different cooling methods that would be great!:D

Heres a pic of the greenhouse
<a href="http://s1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/?action=view&current=DSC_0057.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/DSC_0057.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Heres a pic of the fail filter
<a href="http://s1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/?action=view&current=DSC_0065.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/DSC_0065.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

The water w/ out the filter is about 200 ppm... very. very. hard :headwall:
I dont know what the water hardness is with the filter on.

What kind of temps are you battling this time of year?

low 80s, but it can get really bad at times
ex: low 100s
If I left the mister and fan off the temp would skyrocket to 110.

How bad are your winters? Still able to use the GH in the off season?

  • #10
yes the temps still get hot in the greenhouse in the winter (perfect for year round nep growing)
The temps in the greenhouse are controlled by 2 thermostats to keep the temps between 90 and 70 degrees.
Humidity I do not worry about and the plants seem fine besides the sediment buildup.

I see.. must be nice. If only Michigan had the same weather as California..

Nice green house, wish I had room for something like that;). An ro system may not be a bad idea I got one off ebay earlier this year for $70 that is a 75gpd, 4 stage system.

Had to move the seeds away from the algae. Sprayed soil with physan 20 to rid of algae.
I decided to get a 6 stage RO 150 gpd system to use for the misters and the plant water. It will be connected
to a storage tank with a floating shut off valve.

A miracle has happened...
Several days ago I decided to pollinate a S. flava with some S. X readii leftover pollen.
The next day, the flava flower stock snapped in half from traveling.
I taped up the stem and thought to my self that there was no chance.
Now, 5 days later the lower petals have fallen off and the ovary is noticably increasing in size!:-O
It appears that the plant is delivering nutrients through whats still left of the flower stalk.

I think your flava is an alata... other than that, GREAT plants, and I am so jealous of your greenhouse!

  • #18
sorry, they sound familiar :p

  • #19
I had a similar thing happen with a flower.. I got an alabamensis as a give away that had a hopefully fertilized flower but the flower stalk got kinda snapped in shipping, I just taped it up, clipped it to a flower stake and prayed, and so far so good. :)

WAANNTT your purple people eater, that one is seriously on my want list.
