another "I hate USPS" thread

What was it this time?
How about me tracking my 8 new cephs across the country. Then as soon as they hit Michigan.. the package up and vanishes. My cephs, one of which was an adult Czech Giant, have been missing in Michigan for one week.
I've called every post office and sort facility in Mid-Michigan. Apparently I'm just S.O.L. and everyone working for the USPS is clueless when it comes to the world around them.

I LOATHE THE VERY THOUGHT OF YOU USPS. :censor:

If you're bored, here's my tracking number: 03102640000095521305

Wow.. 8 cephs? Let me know if they arrive alive (if they arrive at all), so I can praise Zeus.

I actually sent a check to one of the members here over a week ago, and he still has not received it. Apparently they're experiencing something of a lull at the moment.. not sure why, though.

Edit:

Nevermind.. he just received the check. :usa2:

Man that really sucks! I hope they eventually show up!

:censor: don't even get me started Mass!!!:censor:

Just wait until all the sort facilities start closing down this summer, it's only going to get worse.

The moment I saw this thread I knew something really bad must have been done by USPS to some nice plants...boy, I sure was right.

I hope you get em' back!

Why do you all think that USPS is to blame?

Since 9/11 and the 2001 anthrax attacks all the things and goods transported by USPS are well inspected not only by USPS, but by CIA, FBI, Homeland Security and who knows what else organisation. It's war against terror.

Don't you think that the pitchers of a Cephalotus might look like somebody is sending a bunch of micro-bombs when roentgenizing the mail? Unusual look, might be a weapon? Or might be a biohazard? So if some of the organisations involved in fight against terror has blasted the package because of the strange contents, who is to blame?

I'm sure, if some package is blasted in the air due to war against terror, USPS is not allowed to tell anybody about it what happened to the package.

And perhaps they don't blast the package immediately, they just take it from USPS for further inspection, which may take some days. And then if everything is OK, they put it back to the USPS transportation chain a week later, or two.

If USPS claims not to know where the package is currently, I'd assume that some organization in the fight against terror has taken it for further inspection, and USPS is not allowed to tell about that. But perhaps I'm suffering from paranoia and USPS is as bad as everybody in the US seems to think.

Jesse, the issue with that is that they would proably then question or even jail the person who sent it. Think about it, a lot of people here would be in jail .

Oh that sucks. I hope your package will come out of limbo in a timely manner. I have never had any problems with USPS and always enjoyed using them, until I moved to my new house. Luckily I have not had any packages lost but my local PO has lousy customer service and I have complained numerous times about my magazines being folded in half. My mailman is rude unprofessional and needs to be replaced. I am not the only one that's complained and nothing ever gets done. I have to be home for deliever of live plants because even with small priority boxes they stuff them in my small box. If I'm not watching the window like a hawk that would mean fried plants. Getting them out is also hard and they should not even put them in there. I'm considering adding a metal bar at the top so he's forced to get out of the truck. Then the big packages that clearly say Live Plants do not leave in heat or cold, are placed outside of my front patio in the sun. Why is it so hard to open the screen door and not place the package in the shade? No dead plants yet but I fear if one day I'm not home for a deliver I will lose them because of mailman. It never used to be like this in other places I have lived.

So that means when I called Allen Park sort facility on the 19th looking for the package, and they said it wasn't there.. it really was. They lied, said,"OH CRAP!", and shipped it the next day. Package arrived here 2 days later. SIX DAYS my package just sat at the sort facility. Go figure..
p.S.. Package arrived in perfect condition.

Mass in trying to send you things before and trying to use the online postage and label printing. USPS refuses to see your address as being real. Maybe there is a problem somewhere with physical address not relating to any address listings that they have and it gets confused in the sorting? Seeing similar things on Maui now that they have done away with Rural Routes or Star Routes and given us all "real street addresses" some are out of order and some do not jive with physical addresses , etc.....

Yeah, I remember you saying that. Upon speaking to the post master in my area.. turns out my address was changed. WHAT?!!? My address is 6540 W. Grand River.
NOOoooo.. your address is now 6540 Acker Drive.

Who, what, when, and why my address just up and changed beats the heck outta me. You'd think SOMEONE would have to tell us,"Oh btw, we decided to change your address to a completely different street name. So.. they named my driveway "Acker Drive" and assigned that as our street address. NEWS TO ME!!

Street names are determined by your local municipality. It's up to the city/town council to inform the rest of the world. Then it's up to you to make the rest of the changes of address. Don't blame the post office.

Maybe fifteen years ago the street I live on was re-named. The city gave ample notice.

Jesse, the issue with that is that they would proably then question or even jail the person who sent it. Think about it, a lot of people here would be in jail .

If Homeland Security takes i.e. one million packages per year from the USPS sorting facilities as being "suspicious" for further inspection. And if further inspection through anti-terror and anti-drug specialists will prove that 999,999 packages of them are indeed harmless and only one is harmful, then there will be an additional one single person put in jail. That's not much for the US. But 999,999 packages will be delayed because of the extra inspections for the 999,999 "suspicious" packages. Suspicious because of unusual contents. Nobody would go to jail after particular investigation has shown that a suspicious package is really harmless. Neither the sender nor the recipient of the package.

So get this..

Sort Facility

Sort Facility

Hey, if your package gets an extra inspection from persons that do not belong to USPS, that take your package out of the USPS delivery chain, inspect the package and return the package into the USPS delivery chain again after some days, they must do it at some point. If they put the package back into the same sorting facility where they have taken it from, then the package runs twice through the same sorting facility. And the delay is the time for the external "extra" inspection the package got meanwhile.

I MAY be paranoid, but that is my explanation what's maybe going on.

I or my wife has had a package opened and regaled with tape saying it was inspected. They do check.

Also so does agriculture. I know a friend in Cali get two packages intercepted because they were shipped potted.soil including peat is regulated. The vendor refused to ship her the plant again. I order the plant get it shipped to me. I bare rooted it and shipped it to her with no soil. And she gets it fine. They do inspect.
