Hey! gonna use this to exhibit the CPs that I currently have (not that many right now, but im already hooked >_<)
Heres my H. minor, I havent had it all that long (I think 4 weeks now); to my surprise it hasn't shown signs of death (yet? XD).. Ps. sorry for the not so great picture quality, I used my phone >_<

In this pic I had filled the pitchers up (they are are still small so I used a syringe with a soft plastic tip >_<), really brings out the veining in the new pitcher

And this is the flower on my box-store bought P. moctezumae (recovering from some hard rain a couple weeks ago; its now inside lol)

'A nice start. Welcome!

Reviving this thread after a long pause haha.
My Sarracenia leucophylla bloomed today! It is a little deformed but I think it's kind of interesting; it's also my first time blooming a Sarracenia so it's a bit special for me I suppose .

That was quite the pause, pk93. Some of the older members of the forum must be pretty surprised to see this.

Beautiful pics!

Yeah, I didn't really have anything to share for a while and had pretty much forgotten about this thread.

Thanks jimscott!

How are those plants in the first post? I wouldn't mind seeing what those plants look like after four years.

I just noticed that my Utricularia alpina x endressii is growing it's first flower stalk! Im so ******* hyped!!

the portion growing out of the top of the net pot gets quite a bit of light so Im pretty surprised that it's going to bloom from that point and not from the side of the pot (the light was so strong at one point that the sphagnum at the top of the pot died; I have since reduced the light levels).
I saw it last night when I took the plant out to fertilize it (foliar spray) but I thought it was just a new leaf; It was my first time fertilizing the plant so hopefully the stalk doesn't abort. I know I didn't get fertilizer on the stalk because I covered it and the sphagnum moss with ripped paper towels (mostly to avoid algae), Im just worried because it was my first time fertilizing my CPs.

Congrats, Pk93! I love it when a utric blooms for the first time. Please post photos when it is open?

So I didn't manage to get a good pic of the U. alpina x endresii bloom last time, but the plant has been flowering like crazy recently! It put out a total of 7 spikes over the past three months (two still blooming, one still growing). My fall quarter was really busy so I am only now getting the chance to enjoy the blooms.
My terrarium kind of a mess right now  but I'm upgrading to a 29 gallon tank soon, so I am going to groom all the plants while I move them.

Those flowers look huge. How large are they, an inch across? Does this species require cool conditions or could your grow it in more typical home conditions?

Holy crap. Winning!

Hey Grey Moss, the flowers are almost 2 inches across :) . I think the temperature in my terrarium is usually around 75° F in the day and around 65° at night, so fairly normal home temperatures. That being said, these tend to be considered highland plants. I am by no means an expert at growing section orchidioides Utricularia, my plant is probably one of the easiest to grow plants from this section, but this link should give you a pretty good idea of how they are typically grown. Also, this thread is really a wealth of knowledge for anyone growing or wanting to grow these plants.

Thanks Dexenthes!
