I have always been into dinosaurs, reptiles, and whatnot. Some lizards bring to mind visions of dragons in minature. In addition, I find the their eyes -- particulary those of many geckos -- to be fascinating.

JB is my initials and at the time of my joining I only grew orchids. Its actually a carry over from an orchid forum. I had a member from here find the orchid forumand want to do some trading of CPs for orchids and he led me here. Been here since. Now people know me as JB so I keep it where ever I go online.

I like the idea :)

richjam1986 is not very immaginative, but I like the resultig affect. It come from my first and middle names, shortened (Richard James -->richjam) and my birthyear.

But Rich jam just sounds, well, yummy ;)

when i was a wee tyke, my sisters used to call me Pibi (pronounced "peebee"). It was a childish modification of my real name, Pablo. As i grew up they still called me Pibi on occasion. One day when i was in highschool, my friend Bruce (Beef Ears) overheard this and modified it into Pebes. It became a nickname.

Mine's just like half the people here: first initial, last name. Now, the explanation for avatars, well, that's a bit more interesting....

Shoot mine is somewhat less than innocent. :\ When I was a stupid teenager I abused drugs heavily and went by the alias of Dexing this or dexing that, as it is the prefix of a drug I abused at the time. I used it on so many forums that Dex became my name throughout the intrawebs. I am not a stupid teenager anymore and drugs are long behind me but I do still like the tag Dex so as I switched my focus from narcotics back to exotics I just combined it with my favorite genus of plant and whala! Dexenthes.

Thought it might be good to bump this thread in case others have stories they'd like to tell, and for those who haven't seen the previous posts. I have enjoyed them all. I'd be interested in hearing any avatar stories as well.

My current avatar hardly need explaining. :awesome: My first regatta sailing solo in Monterey Bay. I'll haveto tell the tale of how the day ended some day.

My UID was explained on the first page. Starting to get my spark back, thank goodness!

Mmmm, how about expanding on user statuses and the more obscure signature lines?

My user status (above the avatar) is pretty easy. A greenhorn, FWIW, was a rookie gold miner. It is now used to describe a rookie for almost anything.

My signature is hardly obscure at the moment. If you want to know what the WWWs are, click. It'll self explain. ;)

My avatar comes from a mix of some other interests/obsessions I've had. I was in ceramics in high school for all 4 years, and in one year I made a 2 foot sculpture of my favorite movie character from my favorite movie: Toothless from HTTYD :D :D :D
It's been one of the best pieces I've ever made, and it's freestanding, even the wings........ as for any of my signatures, they just refer to my own cryptic nature, dealing with things we cannot understand and coming up with ideas nobody would expect from a dorky nerd like me.. :D

I got the name divaskid when I was in highschool and in a group of Bette Midler fans. One of my friends (jokingly we called her diva) used to always call me kid because I was obviously the youngest one in the group. One day while we were all chatting they gave me the nickname diva's kid.... And it's stuck ever since!

My avatar is a ping (Pinguicula "1717") that jimscott gave me, who is one of the first people on the forum I really talked to and showed the true generosity of most of the people on this forum :) Its also cute and pink which I'm always quite fond of.

I'm bringing this one back up to the surface in case anyone wishes to add to it or to see what others have said about their chosen TF names. We have numerous new people since the last installments. There's a full explanation on the first post.

During sessions of the Roman senate when very sensitive matters were to be discussed a rose would be suspended from the ceiling of the meeting chamber to remind everyone present that what was discussed was not to leave the room. These meetings were called "sub rosa", meaning " under the rose".

Dynastes satanas is one of the rarest beetles alive in the wild. It is native to the La Paz mountainous region of Bolivia. I was selected to help breed this species in order to increase the amount of survivors in the wild. The species may have gone extinct if we had not stepped in.

Mine is the name of a battlemage in a fantasy book series written by a local author that I greatly enjoyed as a kid. I have a very difficult time coming up with names for things so I've been using this one for a long time.

Mine is my last name and the day of the month I was born. Been using it for a while for forums and some video games.

It's not a reference to Herbert Axelrod, the fish guy, even though I keep aquariums. Apparently some people here and on the fish forums have thought that. Just an unfortunate coincidence.
