What I've been up to....

Aside from the occasional pop on to check on things, I've taken a bit of a hiatus from the hobby, watering plants only... Selling a few but in general pretty much ignoring it....
Back on the 21st, my Axolotl pair decided they were going to breed. She laid eggs on the 22nd and 23rd, well this strips away what free time I had remaining, and soon between work and my children, all of that free time will be sapped into the care of the young larvae...I figured I would show some pictures of their development from start until current, and will update as they progress... We are 1 week into eggs now, with 1 week to go...

Somewhere in this point in time my son decided to drop a whole container of fish food in the tank, hence the pink flakes

Fricking awesome! Axolotls are so legit. I would love to own one or two ;) someday. Great job at the breeding success (so far).

thats awesome you got them to breed... my parents bought me 2 axolotals when i was 7. not sure if they were a pair tho. recieved them at christmas... they filled the bath tub and told me to take a bath... i was very surprized. I named the slimy and santa and they lived for about 6 years.

Well hopefully I'll have some to get out come around January for those who are interested... Drop me a PM for details, axolotls are illegal in NJ and CA so I can't help anyone out in those states...

what reason could they possibly have to ban such a creature? thats as crazy as banning ferrets

  • #15
They can hybridize with native ambystoma species like the tiger salamander... Though honestly I think that's a bogus reason

Here are some more progress shots... The first was taken not too long after the last in my first post, the second was last night around 10:30PM, and the last was just a few minutes ago...
