OMG, DAT RAFF! :hail:

  • #82
Lovely plants there, Sundrew! It looks like your trademark coffee-flavored Drosera burmanii are doing well.
And just for the record, I am envious of your Drosera binata var. multifida simply because it's fun to say, "For the love of Drosera binata variety multifida form extrema on a stick!" ...Not that I don't like the plant. The plant is nice too.

I love the raf!! :spazz:

Here are some cell phone pics of the Nep terrarium!

The big raff has finished coloring up.

N. lowii x campanulata is looking dark.

N. belii has colored up to. I love the speckles it can get.

N. raff BE99 is looking ok. I'm waiting for the mature pitchers to see if it will be worth the space it takes up.

N. raff Agristarts Clone from Mason. First pitcher in my care! Featuring the only sphagnum that has grown in the terrarium.

N. raff Squat x Alata. This is an old pitcher, but I like it so much. The newest pitcher popped prematurely, but hopefully the next one will develop normally.

N. 'Manny Herrera' has outgrown the terrarium. I am really digging the uppers on this (see a page back or so to see what I mean).

Thanks for stopping by!

You are inspiring me to get a raff..really, I need one now.

VERY NICE leaf jump on the agristarts clone! I am very impressed by your raff growing skills

  • #88
Thanks guys! Everyone needs more raffs, they're so variable and cool to see develop. I lucked out with this terrarium. It gives perfect conditions with zero work from me. Hopefully the raffs can adapt to windowsills though. Can't thank you enough for your donations to the collection Mason.

There have been some awesome leaf jumps in the raffs lately, come to think of it.

And now for more general pics!

I repotted N. ampullaria and it looks like it wants to pitcher again!

On an unrelated note, the leaf of a Rex Begonia in the terrarium.

A mystery Sarr hybrid. Hopefully the veining becomes more pronounced.

Looks like the coffee burmaniis are declining. I'll feed them tomorrow, but they've had a good run. Too bad they made like 30 seeds from all these stalks.

SG Colocasia gigantea 'Thailand Giant' from Mason is growing up.

HUGE NEWS!!! The D. burmannii 'Humpty Doo' is flowering! It's my last one, and I've been tending it like my firstborn.

Admirable Droseras. I am envious of folks who can grow D. scorpioides, since mine always looks like its on death's door. Dunno why some species hate me, but they do.

  • #91
Thank you! Where have you tried to grow your Drosera? This is really the easiest setup I can think of, just lights above a tray of water. I'm going to try and redo everything inside of a large terrarium so that I don't have to water as often and I can boost the humidity. It should make them maintenance free.

  • #93
That is the most brilliant thing I've seen in quite a while!

What happens when you leave a bical in direct sun for a few hours? This.

But it still kept its newest pitcher (starting to see that 'Sarawak Red' coloration).

Arghh congrats on your new plants, I'm a big fan of the colocasia family but I lost the ones I have to spider mites (didn't have an effective treatment back then) and Bulbifer is definitely one of my future targets. I hope they grow great for you.

  • #100
Haha thank you! I'm working on growing some Colocasia from seed as well, I'll be sure to inspect them regularly. Hopefully my parents won't notice the smell if I get the Amorpho to flower next year...
