Nepenthes Specialist
OMG its been a while!

I've been so darned busy its not even funny, trying to make it in this world and enjoy life as much as I can. I got into a second hobby about 5 years ago collecting and restoring antique/vintage snowmobiles. I still have my CPs but have seriously downsized and mainly focus on Sarracenia and some dionaea. I sell my excess/overflow plants at a local nursery in the summer and make some play money doing that. Its helps as stuff divides and you can't keep them all!

I really miss the ole days in my greenhouse with all my Nepenthes. But anyways, what have I missed? I really want to focus on Sarracenia I think in the future and only concentrate on select Nepenthes I really long for owning. I want quality not quantity I realized in my earlier years I can't own em all!

So fill me in, my god it feels good to be back. Getting the plants out of dormancy really gets me back into the swing of things, sometimes I forgot how much I enjoy this stuff.

Looking to reconnect with some other people, what ever happened to BUGWEED-Steve Millar? How is NASC doing? Where are all the ole crew from the good ole days hiding at! COME OUT AND TALK!!!

FILL ME IN!!

Also looking to replace some of my collection I have lost over the years....so much to type fingers can't take it!

you went from neps to snowmodiles? :awesome: nuts, i tell ye! haha

glad to see you return, is your growlist still up to date? seems like a great list considering you downsized! :D

Hey Nep G. hows it going? I quit growing for few years myself, got back into it now after my dad died and I had time to devote to the plants again. I'm also working on running a new heavy metal record label these days. Geez it's hard to compete in this music selling market!

Glad to know you're back into it, but sadly I don't grow any sarrs or dionaea, Neps and mini orchids for me, just like before. LOL

Oh gosh no that growlist was last updated in 06 I think, I still have most of my sarracenia but really looking to get back this stuff, main reason I lost my stuff was because my mother had breast cancer and of course I had tunnel vision on her making it through it which she did with flying colors, but some of my plants suffered, no big loss, as they are replaceable my mother isn't.

flava var. atropurpurea -Bugweed
flava var. atropurpurea -Carl taylor (ICPS guy?)
flava var. rubricorpa - Liberty Co, FL near Sumatra
purpurea var. montana -Jeremy Brisco
rubra spp. alabamensis Thorsby, AL/Chilton Co. -Bugweed
rubra spp. jonesii Etowah Bog, Henderson Co. NC -BugWeed
rubra spp. wherryi Mobile Co. Citronelle, AL - bugweed
purpurea spp. venosa var. montana - Jeremy Brisco

drosera:
binata var. mulitifida "extrema" jeremiah harris
dichotoma "giant" - jeremiah harris

names reference where my original plant was sourced from. These are most of the notable plants I lost. I retained my prized oreophila "catalani-truesdell" clone which is by far the most stunning S. oreophila I have ever encountered. It blows all the heavily veined forms all to crap!

SWORDS you dog! Man here is a familar name! I'm sorry to hear about your father :(. I lost my grandpa in 2009, we were close so I know how that feels, my father took it pretty bad, but we heal everyday. I miss my neps the most but I dont have the time for them right at the moment. i will be back into them I plan on going hardcore with the rare stuff villosa/macrophylla/edwardsiana/rajah/lowii/hamata/ etc you get the picture. But thats it concentrate on a few of the select neps i really desire and leave it at that.

Yeah me too, I don't need every species like before, just my faves. Finally gotta couple eddies from that guy on the east coast. If it wasn't for him calling me on the phone in January 2011 I probably wouldn't have got back into them but Edwardsiana was one species I'd always wanted to grow. No sense setting up a grow chamber just for two seedlings so now I've got a bunch of my fave HLers again but no more "every species" like before filling the apartment with grow chambers and spending $100s on the power bill! LOL

I'm glad your mom is doing well! Take my dad as a warning, don't start smoking cigarettes and watching FOX news 24/7! LOL

you havent gotten your mother into a sterile culture for safe storage? :p

i dont mean to take the breast cancer lightly at all, i am so glad that she has recovered :) no greater gift than hearing that after so much time wondering and hoping that she would be okay.

Hi Dustin,
Welcome back - hopefully you can hang out for a while.

I retained my prized oreophila "catalani-truesdell" clone which is by far the most stunning S. oreophila I have ever encountered. It blows all the heavily veined forms all to crap!
