N bicalcrata in the news

Why is it there's so much news about these plants? First there's sundew mucus helping heal wounds, then some Utricularia (can't remember which one) has something about getting rid of 'junk' genes, and now a Nepenthes bicalcarata has made friends with a species of ant. What is with these plants???
 
This has been known for years, but I guess it's just now getting published.

This type of info has actually been published a number of times. It's likely so few people know about these interesting details that it has to circulate a couple hundred times before it becomes common knowledge.
