I have decided I want to uniformly organize my Sarracenia collection since it is getting quite large and unruly in regards to pot uniformity. I feel like the growing process would be easier with either four-inch or five-inch square pots in large community trays; right now my plants are in variously sized and shaped pots in what ever kind of tray I can find. I have two questions before I buy materials, though.
1) What size would you recommend? My pots now are relatively large for the more mature plants (I have various hybrids and few representatives of every species), varying between six and nine inches deep and across. I was thinking of down sizing for the new, square nursery pots: say four of five inches square and high. I figure the four would be good for most smaller plants, and the five could accommodate everything but the biggest rhizomes.
2) What brand do you recommend? I have used the Kord in the past. They are seemingly the same ones that death cube plants come planted in. They are high quality and durable for several years in my experience. I am also thinking about using the Coex planters. I have bought regular garden plants from Lowes, WalMart, etc. planted in these. They are quite a bit thinner, but come in nearly the same dimensions for a reduced price.
