Are the white specks on the soil mold? help please!

Looks like salt or calcium deposites.
 
I agree with Divaskid, it looks like salt or calcium deposits. Mold is more fuzzy.
 
any idea where it could come from? i use distilled water
 
Soil molds aren't always fuzzy. Looks similar to those which pop up on my peat moss occasionally. Bright light usually takes care of it, but it rarely causes issues for me.
 
what brand of peat did you use? bought one from lowe's and it did that big time...
 
If it is newish peat, this often occurs, it seems to bloom for a few days to a week, but for me it has always been harmless and goes with good ventilation.

Looks organic rather than mineral to me. Unless it takes over the pot or starts growing on the plant I wouldn't worry about it. I can just echo the suggestions above: high light and good air flow.
