Any houseplants blooming?

  • #21
Did you ever try growing it like a clivia? In the wild they grow evergreen yearlong and don't know what a cold, dry dormancy is.
They tend to bloom when they have enough energy to do so...

LOL! I could never get Clivia to bloom either. Had a Clivia I raised from seed. After 7 or 8 yrs of it not blooming, got tired of looking at it and gave it away. Interesting, only folks I have ever known to successfully bloom their Clivia was by giving them a cold dry dormancy.

Angraecum sesquipedale or one of its hybrids?

On to mine...

Which belong to this:

And while not a flower, still a pretty as some:

Too bad that the pink pup is most likely destined to die, once it falls off the mother plant.

Forgot to include the "satellite dish"...

Nice plants, I wish I can grow catts and earth stars:(
Why is the pink earth star pup destined to die?

A lack of chlorophyll is a death sentence for a plant that is unable to parasitize another plant for nutrients.

My two Haworthias are blooming, and my rescue home depot bromeliad's pup is probably going to bloom soon too.
My orchid never does though, since I rarely fertilize it.

Looks like everyone's got some nice blooms going on. I'd really like to try orchids one day.

Only have a couple of houseplants in bloom at the moment:
