Artistic Renditions

Haven't done any new ones in a while, but on occasion the fancy strikes me to make sketches of the plants I have pictures of (mostly Nepenthes). I prefer working in black and white as I can show shading and three dimensions more easily that way, but a handful are done in color.
I intend to post a handful of sketches at a time, until they're all up. So without further ado:

Not my best, but one of the only representations I've done of this species...

Sarracenia 'Abandoned Hope' by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
Sarracenia 'Royal Ruby' by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
This is perhaps one of my favorite sketches so far.

More to come at later dates... :)

I doubt I would be good at drawing designs for something like that (and, personally, not a big fan of tattoos), but I'm sure there are people who could put a lot of these under an ink rendition.

The colored ones look nice too but i really like the pencil works u do better then the colored ones, but thats my opinion not that it matters much lol. The longifolia looks really great too!

Personally, I prefer working in black and white since it's easier to draw in 3D that way, and I've found the graphite pencils are a lot easier to shade and do detail work with than the rough colored pencils
But, I still tried a handful with color
