Resurrect Sphagnum Moss?

Does anyone know if you can resurrect sphagnum moss? I put some dead sphagnum in a container on top of some peat moss and closed it and put it in the shade outside.

If there are viable spores they may germinate

In my experience it takes about 3 months when sealed in a high humidity environment. Even after that it's pretty slow to get going.

Fredg is correct. Unless there are any non-sterile spores, the dead sphagnum will not
"magically resurrect".

This is strange, as the whole point of autoclaving sterilization is to properly kill of any dormant spores.

It has to be performed at specific pressures for a significant amount of time. Consider that many seeds, for example, actually require fire for their stratification . . .
