1. Only ONE (1) Plant per member may be entered in any particular month. This means one Nep vine, one Sarr Rhizome, one pygmy dew etc.
2. All pictures must be taken in the month of entry into the contest.
3. All entries must be clearly identified.
4. Entries are restricted to cultivated plants.
5. Contestants may post as many times and as many pictures of their entry as they like until contest closing on 06/30/17
6. Sequential pictures showing opening of a pitcher, unfurling of a leaf etc. are fine as long as all pictures are taken within the month of the contest.
7. If, for some reason, a single pitcher/plant/whatnot cannot be isolated and a group shot is necessary, then the particular pitcher/plant/whatnot entered must be clearly identified in your post.
8. Plant must have been grown by owner at least six months prior to photo, or sprouted from seed by the owner.
9. I didn't like this rule. You can keep entering the same thing month after month and if people still like it without getting sick of it, so be it.
10. Times of Contest and Poll openings and closings are to be understood as EST.
11. Judging by forum members and guests in a poll opening on 07/01/17, closing 07/05/17 and using this forum in this thread! Voting will appear at the top of the thread at the close of the contest entries.

** Please remember to clearly identify your entry!!**

Contest will be closed on June 30th 2017 at 5:00PM EST

Good Luck!

Heliamphora 'Patasola'

The Patasola or "one foot" is one of many myths in South American folklore about female monsters from the jungle, appearing to male hunters or loggers in the middle of the wilderness when they think about women. The Patasola appears in the form of a beautiful and seductive woman, often in the likeness of a loved one, who lures a man away from his companions deep into the jungle. There, the Patasola reveals her true, hideous appearance as a one-legged creature with ferocious vampire-like lust for human flesh and blood, attacking and devouring the flesh or sucking the blood of her victims.

This plant was selected for cultivar consideration based on its vigor, rapid growth rate and unique physical characteristics.
It grew from seed to flowering adult in under four years.

It is from a hybrid I created several years ago. It is unique among its siblings in that it is a combination of the best qualities of each.
It will be co-submitted with Jennifer Lei (aka pokie22) who cultivated this particular seedling to maturity.

Mature pitchers are 25-30cm tall and 5-6cm wide. Under intense lighting the pitcher color will become vinaceous to violet to almost charcoal as the pitcher ages. Pitcher shape is infundibular in the lower part with a pronounced waist approximately half way up. The upper section is infundibular and slightly compressed in older pitchers from front to back. This compression gives the pitcher mouth a kidney or reiniform shape when viewed from above. The interior and exterior surfaces of the pitcher are puberulent to pubescent.

The rim of the pitcher mouth may undulate under some conditions and become revolute as it approaches the base of the nectar spoon. The revolute rim ends at the nectar spoon with little to no further constriction. The nectar spoon is helmet shaped with the bottom edge diagonally tapering to a point at the apex. It is a copious producer of nectar with droplets sometimes observed on the nectar spoon and exterior pitcher surface.

The inflorescence is pubescent with typical Heliamphora flowers. Productive bracteole nectaries have been observed under favorable conditions

Heliamphora ‘Patasola’ must be reproduced vegetatively by rhizome division or cuttings to preserve the characteristics of the cultivar.

Been a while, thanks for looking :)
