They call us fanatics.........

........but are we really marked with extreme, unreasoning enthusiasm?

I, for one, don't need any more reasons. Do you?

No more necessary! Nice pictures, thank you for sharing them!

I too am caught and awed by their beauty. That is why I continue to grow them long after all other hobbies have died.

Very nice pictures. I like the sundews and the butterwort picture is amazing. Thanks for sharing.

You know, these pix make me want to run to the my windowsill and hug all my plants...... Kinda strange..... Anywaz, there absolutely stunning, I wish my plants looked like that. Way to go!

wow those are some really grand pictures!!!! Very detailed.

Thanks for the comments.

I used a Sony DSC - S70, just over three megapixel, Carl Zeis lens, and a good macro feature.

Pondboy, the second pic is not an alata. Anyone wanna make guesses on all the ID's? (include ssp, where applicable). Most shouldn't be too difficult. Hint: the nep is a hybrid.

First one to get them all gets some free B. liniflora or D. capensis 'red' seed, your choice.

Well, to start it off...

My guesses: (Some I am positive of and others for the fun of it.)

Top to bottom

N. Ventricosa x Maxima
Sarracenia Rubra Ssp. Wherry
S. Leucophylla
D. Petiolaris
P. Moranensis
D. Burmanii
D. Venusta
D. Brevifolia?
U. macrorhiza flower?
D. Capensis Flower

Anything close? PM me Noah if I have anything right.

N. X ventrata
S. rubra ssp. wherryi
S. X wrigleyana
D. petiolaris
P. 'Tina'
D. spatulata
U. flaccida
D. burmanni
D. hamiltonii
D. capensis

Some of these were complete shots in the dark for me, so it will be interesting to see how I do.

Odysseus, you got 5 entries correct.

SF, you got three, even though they aren't in the correct order.

Anyone else want to try?

Hints: The nep is the only hybrid
2 plants come from South Africa, 4 from North/Central America, and 4 from South-east Asia and Oceana.

N. ventricosa x maxima or ventrata x maxima?
S. rubra ssp. wherryi
S. minor or psitachiana (sp?)
D. petiolaris
P. 'Tina'
D. burmanii
D. brevifolia
D. venusta
U. macrorhiza
D. capensis

I think I hacked my way through, but we'll see how I do...
