Well it seems I have an abundance of bugs since all of my sundews are feasting They are all indoors on my windowsill. They look like fruit flies, and I'm wondering if they live in the soil. These don't seem to be doing any damage at all. Sometimes I will see one crawling on the dirt in my plants, and later that day, I will see a curled up leaf. It seems as though they are ok there since it is a nice supply of food for the plants. I'm just wondering where they came from, and if they could possibly be bad for any of the plants. Thanks!

Fungus Gnats. Your seeing the adult gnat. The larvae live in the soil and eat decaying organic matter.

In my opinion they can actually damage the plants if their population is high enough, by eating root hairs which directly affect the plants and also opening a venue for fungal infection into the roots.
