definitely go to the botanical gardens there. they are awesome. been there many times myself. they do have CP's, but not a whole lot. in the temperate house they have a little bog area with perhaps a dozen different Sarracenia species/hybrids. also some VFT's, sundews, butterworts. in the Climatron (big glass dome thingy) they have a couple of Nepenthes. too bad the weddings not a month or so later, when the St. Louis CP society has their annual show/sale. picked up a lot of nice plants there over the years. part of me still wishes i lived in the area. the Arch is a neat touristy thing to do, although if you are at all claustrophobic, you may not want to ride up. there's not much room in those little things you sit in to ride up. the view is amazing though. the whole riverfront area (Laclede's landing), where the arch is, is kind of a fun place to spend time. let's see...there's a really good zoo there, and it's free, and if i remember correctly, you can walk there from the botanical gardens. if baseball's your thing, maybe the cardinals will be in town. Busch stadium is a great place to see a game, even if you aren't a Cardinals fan. i'm not, but went to a few games there, just to enjoy being at the ball park, down some suds and hot dogs, etc. there's a neat little butterfly house, i think on the south side. kind of off the beaten path a little, but it makes for an interesting few hours. i think the St. Louis CP society has a booth there. not sure what exactly is in it, since they started it after the last time i was there. if gambling's your thing, they have the Casino Queen (immortalized in a Wilco song of the same name, if you happen to be a fan of that group). it's an old riverboat converted to a casino. i've never been there, not being the gambling type, but i've heard it's a fun place to go. i think there might be another one at Laclede's landing, but can't quite remember. there's a science museum near the zoo/botanical gardens too. i went once, but wasn't that impressed, but that's just me. i think it might be more geared towards children, but memories of it escape me at this point. now that i think of it, maybe it's the science museum that has the link to the zoo, not the botanical gardens. anyway, it's a big city with lots of things to choose from. have fun. early May should be a great time to visit the gardens, weather and bloom-wise.
