Guess the hawk was after a little dove snack.

I forgot about this topic... LOL

Actually the hawk was hungry for more than just a dove snack. For the last week or so he had been perched up in a tree watching for any doves that visited our bird feeders. He would thus take his pick of the sitting ducks(or a better word would be the sitting doves). He was a young hawk who found an easy way to get food, and it got the better of him.
 
Looks like a Coopers Hawk. This is also how many of these birds (and other raptors) get hit by vehicles on the highway (the ones not already sitting on their prey in the road). They are so extremely focused on catching their next meal - they don't have the time to look at the surroundings. ... and the dove's focus is a little different...(but still doesn't have the time to look closely where he/she is going...)
