Wow, I wish my dad knew about those $10 light fixtures you guys were talking about. He spent $130+ on lights

  • #145
Looking very nice Ben, i like the N. fusca 'Sarawak'. Ab cat yeah your dad spent to much on lights alot of people make that mistake.

  • #146
They were for his aquarium. It holds 2, really skinny light bulbs and the entire fixture is 4' long and roughly 4" wide.

  • #147
It was expensive because t5's rock, that's why :)

Yup. Once they get some more roots, I'll put them on the trade forum.

TO BRING THIS DEAD THREAD BACK TO LIFE...........

ahem.........

After reading thru this topic, you've all inspired me to build my own 5-shelf grow rack. :)

However, I'm not decided on the lighting....

What are some of the pros & cons of the T12 fixtures vs. the T8 fixtures?

Power consumption? Bulb & ballast heat? Usable light intensity? Bulb prices?

Thanks.

  • #154
I'm pretty sure the T8s are just plain better, other than cost.

  • #155
I uhh.. dunno lol. You can fit more T8's in less space but not that much.

Anything that's smaller is better as long as the watts are the same I guess. T12's in 4 ft sizes are a lot easier to find.

Hey guys, I was wondering when I should replace the bulbs? They're like 7 months old now, and they were running at like 11 hours per day in winter/spring, and now for a few months have been running at 15 hours per day. Should I get new ones now?
