Portable Bog?

likeAstone76

NICK,NICK,NICK!!!!! Indians.......
Is it possible to make a "portable bog"? I live in an apartment complex, and I don't think they would take too kindly to me digging up the place. If this is a stupid question, I appologize in advance.

Not stupid at all! Sure you could do it depending on how much weight you could lift and if you can give it the dormancy period required. Others will chime in but sure, you could do it!

The weight and dormancy will not be issues. Do you or anyone know of a website with info on building one of these? Is their a thread on here about it? Thanks for all the help.

thanks alot tommy.

My Sarracenias, VFT's, and temperate sundws are all in portable bogs of a sort. I use buckets, with handles and tote them to the cold attic for the winter. Here are some pics:

In the general sense, a bog is just a water logged area. So you could techically make a bog out of a big pot that doesn't drain water.

xvart.

I move my big bog pots inside for the winter.

i've got mine inside a bottle garden. it was a little tricky getting the plants in, but it looks quite nice and is easy to move

I have one bog in a old red wagon. :) I line it with plastic (as the metal is rusty) and fill it with my Sarracenia pots. This way I can roll it around my deck to the sunniest spots as the seasons change. I also have other mini-bogs in round pond liners from Lowes. While they don't "wheel", I can take the plants out, dump the water, clean the tubs, relocate them, etc. Inground bogs are great if you can set them up properly but you can always make do with other means. Bugweed used those sink-sized rubbermaid containers.
