I had an air conditioner in my GH this summer - it was the only thing that saved my plants!
I had to run it at night, and during the middle of the day.
Yes, it does reduce the humidity somewhat, but from 100% to, oh, 90% is not a real problem if you ask me! This was, of course, at night. The few hours in the middle of the day when it was on weren't enough to dry anything out appreciably....and cooling the air had the effect of INCREASING the relative humidity to help offset the drying effect of the AC.
