Plant Rack Lighting Suggestions

Hey everyone,

I am looking for suggestions for a 4' shelf system that I want to turn into a plant rack.

Right now I have about a $100 for lights and I have a few options.

1. I could light one shelf with a 4 tube T5.
2. I could light one shelf with 4 14w LEDs.
3. I could light three shelves with six 2 tube T12.

Which one would you do?

I'd suggest going with T5HO's, and if you can get 4, then 2 per shelf is just fine.

I would, if i were you, try a 2x T5HO over 2 shelves (and see what the results are(or two one and one) but a single T5HO just doesn't put out enough light to make cp's thrive IMO).

From what I've read, I wouldn't go with T12's over T5's, ever.

And where'd you find 4 T5's at 100$, that's inexpensive!

The most important question though is:

What are you going to grow?

Thanks Bloke

There are numerous auctions for ~$100 on eBay...usually around $120 if I want to use the buy it now option. Its a 4 tube fixture.

I'm planning on growing a lot of stuff but for now it will be used to help start plants off before moving them outside or into a specific terrarium set up for the specific plant. It would also be used to move plants indoors during certain parts of the winter when the chill comes through.
