Beautiful plants! I really like the tentaculata and attenbouroughii

Thanks for sharing!

Looking good Mat! Your plants always look so healthy, good growing ;)

The tentaculata looks great!

I also find the hairy hamata x hamata interesting, will be interesting to see how that one goes as it ages further.

Wow, those are amazing looking plants! I haven't paid much attention to nepenthes before, but maybe I should now haha. I wonder what's the function of those 2 ridges on the side of the pitcher?

You have Lecanopteris spinosa too! I've been looking for this but can't find it around here. Do you have any spore from it?

The wings are vestiges of the original edges of the leaf blade. They provide a ladder of sorts for insects to climb, and are often dotted with nectar glands to further entice prey.

great update Mat! do you have a location on that tentac?

  • #607
Stunning! Your N. argentii is even greater than I was imagining. Also your attenboroughii is quite large! (considering)

Sorry, I only just saw this question. It's one of the Borneo forms, probably Sabah. Not sure about specifics other than that.

Three full days were spent repotting and rearranging everything in the tent. It's days like that where having a separate place to take care of plant matters seems crucial, ie repotting in your living room can get messy. This is the first time I've really given a damn about the plants in the past year or so, and their health reflected that. Things are different now: new, coarser media all around, bigger pots, a misting system (which I should have installed two years ago), and a new tray. I was saddened (in the sociopathic sense) by the loss of some plants, due in large part to three-year old decayed media and a colony of insects thriving in some pots, but also impressed by the size of some plants that seemed less than outstanding before I had a chance to look at them individually - 15'' leonardoi, vining ceciliae, etc. were bright spots, although I didn't take the time to photograph individual plants like I usually do in these types of mass repotting scenarios, mostly out of time constraints and exhaustion, but also sheer laziness.

Wow! That was quite full! What are you using as a misting system? I'm looking into getting one of those right now.

It's the usual MistKing system that most people seem to go with. I bought it second-hand after a local grower decided to call it quits. Works incredibly well and is, in my opinion, essential if you decide to grow in a tent.

Ah, yes, that's what I'm thinking of going with. I'm still trying to figure out number of nozzles. How many are you using for your tent?

Just three, although a fourth one would be useful to even it out a bit.

Looks more crowded than before, but everything has much more root space to work with, which should in turn makes things even worse.

Funny how the autumn rains seem to turn us to indoor pursuits and rekindle the love we have for our plants. If I should ever find myself with enough room to grow neps I'm gonna get a N. x trusmadiensis. I've seen your plant a few times in the flesh and it always impresses me. That N. albomarginata is simply gorgeous.

Your albomarginata is perfect. I wish mine would get that purple.
