    always keep the water topped off!

    this is a very useful technique, especially if you have need for higher humidity (you don't). The number one concern though is you have to MAKE SURE to always keep the water level high enough - it can be easy to forget. with a closed enough system, which it sounds like you have, you shouldn't lose too much water.
