i recived this as a gift and was wondering if you could tell me what it is

its a S. purparea
did it come from lowes it looks like it came in one of those cubes.
its probably in jsut peat I would think about repotting it and adding some perltie or somethign for drainage and then acclimate it to full sun.
I got one from my mom she got it at the hardware store and I repotted it and I am skipping dormancy this year since its almost spring.
S. purparea is easy to grow.

looks like a heterophylla form. cool.
 
no it sees alot of sun it sits in a south facing window and im on a south facing hil side the sun comes in the windows all day

To me, that looks like a Sarracenia 'catesbaei' (correct me if I spell it wrong) because that looks nothing like my S. purpurea venosa, too tall and it would have some sort of red veining.

I'm pretty sure that it's an S. purpurea ssp venosa
