Random Plant Growing out of my Tree Fern!

I have an orchid mounted to a tree fern slab and this little guy decided to make it his home. Any ideas for what it is?

A toothpick for size reference, he is a few months old. I think I want to keep him!

It's so small it's kind of hard to to tell...
But good luck with it...

I think its a fern, it looks like some pyrrosia seedlings i have:

Heck, to my untrained, uneducated eye - the leaves look similar to the miniature ferns you showed in a trade post a while back.... ???

orchidoides?
Probably a stretch since it seems that most Orchidioides like some elevation between them & lowlands - and I suspect that most of the treefern collection comes from lowland areas. However, rumor has it that U. jamesoniana also has lowland forms ....

U. amethystina seems to hitch rides with things from South America and does have similar shape..... Not an orchidoides but can dream....

I used to get these same little ferns sprouting out of the tree fern panels in my dart frog tanks.

tree fern usually comes from new zealand (dicksonia antarctica)

I am growing a few Pyrrosia's but they have not produced any spores yet, a few other species have but they look nothing like this one. They don't match the baby or mature leaves of any ferns I'm intentionally growing. My first thought was a fern, but as its growing up I'm starting to hope for an Utric :)

What about some other non lobed small fern like microgramma ?

What about some other non lobed small fern like microgramma ?

The handful of Microgramma species I'm growing don't look like that, the closest would be heterophylla but that has a "leaf" type shape.

With all the ferns out there ???.

Still hoping for a Utric :-D

it could also just be a temperate weed ;)

As RSS lets out one last attempt for some sympathy & hope ...
Still hoping for a Utric :-D
Talie takes a massive sledge hammer & crushes the possibility ...
it could also just be a temperate weed ;)
... and he won't even let his devastation take the form of a tropical weed, it's gotta be temperate ....

:0o:

:poke:

Well the mystery plant is a fern . Its a 3" or so now and I really don't know why I haven't "weeded" it yet.
