Nepenthes

hey guys,
I recieved the following 2 nepenthes a few years ago. They were both identified as N.truncata x vietchii. But the two are rather different.

Nep 1-
-is rather hairy
-has winged pitchers

Nep 2
-very smooth pitchers and leaves
-no winges
-larger
-nodes closer together/more compact

here are the pics

here is the 1st nep

These plants are both very large and mature. Both are about 2 feet in diameter.

Thanks
Mike

I have been researching and I think that Nep 2 is N.truncata please tell me if Im wrong. Im still confused though about nep 1

Mike

I think that the original ID was probably correct, I can see both vietchii and truncata in both of them. Its very common for plants with identical parentage to look startlingly different.

Hey Mike,
On the second one, I can't quite tell from the pic...Are the leaves heart shaped? If they are, it's most likely pure truncata, if not, then it's a hybrid, though I can't say for sure the other parrent.

whats that black/green bottle thing ? anyways , i also agree maehem , but one of them looks like n. x tiveyi .

the bottle is a neat devise that lets water drip out for up to 3 weeks.
