Wow....2 hits in 3 minutes and 4 in 6 minutes. You guys are fast. Thanks for the quick responses....I knew this was the right group but I'll stick to growing CPs. Don't know my western US insects to well yet.
 
Jerusalem cricket.... I hate those! They look so creepy. For some reason I have a disdain for members of the grasshopper/cricket family. It's those hind legs...
 
Call it a potato bug, or people will know you're not from California.
 
Fat sucker! My adult Ts, Emp. scorp, or centipede would love to have that for lunch!

Yep. Actually my centipede is a bit larger than that one. Impressive predators!

potato bug being a common name, I wouldn't at all be surprised to find that people use the same name for several different species.

Also, "going bugging" hehe, I like it. Makes me wanna make a sign with a clock: "Gone Bugging, be back in..."

Potato bug may refer to:
Jerusalem cricket, an insect
Woodlouse crustacean, or more specifically, Armadillidiidae or pillbug
