Ive grown many of these plants, yet my house, lawn, bedroom, kitchen
and crawlspace is still obliterated by mosquitos and biting insects alike.
However, I have an insect repellent that is a literal godsend. Have never been bitten once,
even in the deepest bogs/swamps ive run through.
a few of the main components include all three of those lemon plants.
Such botanicals only work if the plant's leaves are freshly bruised, or crushed to release the volatile oils therein. Once the oils have evaporated, so does their effects. Also, though it has been a while, I seem to recall reading that it is not so much that the skeeters are repelled but rather that the oils confound their olfactory senses so they miss the scent cues that draw them to you.
