Plant of the Month December 2020

Still working out the exact parentage on this plant which was purchased as an unlabeled rhyzome. Closest I can find is Sarracenia "Golden Eagle". Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

Pitcher of the Month December 2020

Idk it popped up in the app, I did not see a parent category. It's still regularly in the 60's and 70's during the day. I have it on a greatly reduced photo period, which it will remain on for the next three to four months. It's in an unheated space so it gets the night time drops, with any...

Plant of the Month November 2020

I do not. It is a terrestrial that has volunteered in one of my pots. It has a flower stalk which has not bloomed yet so it will be a little while before I can confidently label it. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

    Recommendation for beginners CP's

Lots of people will recommend D. capensis, which might be ok. I killed my first, so it is possible to have issues with it. I'd look to see if there are any Drosera native to your area and try to grow outdoors to avoid sinking funds into an indoor setup while you're still getting the hang of it...

Keeping kittens from snacking on plants

They're only about a year old (they were feral kittens when I found them) so they only really make it to the end of the block before the dogs spook them. I usually bring them to the tree after as a way to let them feel some controll over the situation. Clicker training with freeze dried shrimp...

    Properties of alternative growth media

Certainly a good place to start. When things slow down a bit I'll fill some containers with the individual soil components listed in that cpuk thread. I'm slightly limited in my current test setup, but TDS and PH measurements over time would be a good place to start. I could also do some agar...
