Some Myrmecodia seedlings

It seems like Myrmecodia are all the rage with Nepenthes growers these days, so I tried my hands with some seeds. These are either M. echinata, M. platytyrea, or M. tuberosa (my university collection of ant plants isn't the best managed). I parked them in a plastic bag with some damp paper towels; all the seeds germinated in two days, and a couple of weeks out I have some cute seedlings.

One I mounted for fun; the others will be potted up soon

That is quite interesting that they show the distinctive growth habit right from the beginning.

Bonjour

nice juvenils

M.echinata is a M.tuberosa 'armata'

your other M.tuberosa come from what area in indonesia because we have 16 ' subsp' in this genus .

you can grow these genus also in pure peat.

Hi Jeff, thanks for the information, I am definitely not familiar with Myrmecodia taxonomy so all advice is appreciated. :)

The M. tuberosa in the collection are mostly without location data (except for one simply labeled "Borneo") so I suppose they could be many things. Hopefully growing them out and getting some good pictures of the parent plant in the future might help.

Bonjour

on the borneo island you have just 3 myrmecodia tuberosa species

in the indonesian area : M.tuberosa 'armata' and M.tuberosa 'bracteata'
in the malaysian area : M.tuberosa 'bracteata ' and M.tuberosa 'apoensis'

when you have adult plant, take picture to the stem with the alveoli and the clypeoli .

This particular plant has no label, so it's possibly a Bornean species but it could be from anywhere.
