Amorphophallus bulbifer

Most of my plants survived the huge storm we had early this week but it did snap my Amorphophallus bulbifer off at the base just above the soil. I was wondering is there anything I can do to still own an A. bulbifer (short of buying another one). Can I make cuttings off the leaflets and plant them? (this is one way I have read that they are propagating A. titanum). Will the bulb that is still planted simply die or may a secondary bud sprout from the the pot? If a new bulb may sprout from the pot should I keep the pot damp as if there was a plant in it or let it dry?

thanks for any thoughts!
