Grow Pitcher Plants!
Hi,
If you are interested in helping out with the North American Sarracenia Conservancy (NASC), there are many volunteer opportunities in the different commitees. This offers a great opportunity to help out with North American pitcher plant conservation, education, and propagation.
The NASC'S goal is to preserve Sarracenia genetic diversity by habitat preservation and by spreading rescued plants throughout the country to experienced growers to be further cultivated and propagated for preservation. The more growers involved in different locations, the better the chance of maintaining this genetic diversity. See this link for a detailed mission statement.

Currently, the NASC is involved in negotiating the transplanting of pitcher plants from soon to be developed private land to public protected land.
Other projects involve the rescue of plants when immediate transplants are not an option. In these cases many location specific plants that have been rescued are currently in the growing program and should be spread to other interested growers as they divide or become larger when grown from seed. This leaves the potential for reintroduction back into their native habitats pending approvals by NGOs, State, and Federal regulators etc.
This is an invitation to join a team of growers for the purpose of NA pitcher plant conservation. An interest in growing these plants and 3+ years of experience in growing them from seed is required. Please review the NASC website for further information.
If you are interested in joining the NASC grower team please read the Grower and Distribution Commitee Guidelines and email me at plantmaterials@nasarracenia.org
Thanks,
Vic
