San Diego Orchid Society show from today

The theme was "A Rainbow of Orchids" and it goes on all weekend long. I might go again tomorrow or Sunday to poke around more because I went mainly today to buy some stuff I was looking for for a while (Paphs).

Here's my pictures of the show...

where was this in SD? im guessing Del Mar

Cool, I love the orchid shows! I always spend a lot so I suppose the vendors love me too!
Looks like you don't get off any cheaper! LOL

That tree with all the mini Cattleyas (I think) is great!

orchids are flowers with mass bragging rights

It's at the Scottish Rite Center on Camino del Rio (Mission/Fashion valley?) - all this weekend. Weekend pass is $10, day pass is $7. If you go to the SDCOS webpage and follow the link you can get $1 off.

And yeah, that Cattleya tree is even better looking in person. I might go stare at it some more today after neeming the new plants...and I'm switching out the bushes in the front (Hibiscus instead of some ugly spider/bee attractor that produces inedible blue berries).

Ooooh! I LOVE orchid shows!

Tell me, WHAT is THIS?!? I gotta find one!

I love the different and unusual flowers these plants grow.

Catasetum of some sort perhaps?
I've only ever seen one in person myself at an orchid show this past January.

Lil Stinkpot - I'll go again today and try to find out for you...got a closeup but it wouldn't load on photobucket for some reason.

Pretty occupied this weekend, how often do they have this here in SD? is it always at the same spot? Fashion/Mission is 20 mins away, shopping temptation area

I've just lived here for about a year so I'm not sure...I assume it's annual though.

BTW, you have a lowland setup? I have an N.ampullaria I'm killing because of cold (I assume) and I'm sure shipping it off would kill it, but handing it off to someone who has the setup will probably save it.

thez- yo: Well my set up is very easy maybe you can try it too.
I have my N. Amp. in a cabinet with 2 lights. 1 compact fl. 27watts (I think) and the other a 18inch 15 plant and aquarium... 2gal of water right bnext to it for "humidity" and that's all!! And ill tell you... its putting some really nice pitchers... oh yeah the light source is about a foot... tha't all nothing fancy and very easy to set up!

Jag: I don't want to set up anything than shelves in front of a window, so it's really my fault it isn't growing so that's why it needs a new home. Thanks for the suggestion though because it sounds great, but with the amount I spend on plants, I don't want to also be spending money on aquaria, bulbs, electricity, etc.
