I bought this as Bulbophyllum guttulatum but, I suspect it's a hybrid.

Unknown Papheopedilum hybrid :

Some kind of mini Phaleonopsis:
<a href="http://s1109.photobucket.com/albums/h434/Nepenthes138/Orchids/?action=view&current=039.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/h434/Nepenthes138/Orchids/039.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Super ugly Phaleonopsis:
<a href="http://s1109.photobucket.com/albums/h434/Nepenthes138/Orchids/?action=view&current=greenswamp2011178.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/h434/Nepenthes138/Orchids/greenswamp2011178.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Very pretty!

Very nice morning eye candy!

Masdie FTW! And that hybrid is ******* gorgeous as well.

For anyone who cares, I accidentally stumbled across what that supposed Bulbophyllum guttulatum actually is. It's a hybrid called Bulbophyllum Kalimpong (Bulbophyllum guttulatum x Mastigion ornatissimum).

Beautiful flowers. I like the ugly phal the best.

Beautiful flowers; thanks for sharing. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder - I like the Ugly one the best....

Haha, 2 in a row. I like that cultivar but I think that particular plant is dog ugly. The blotches are usually much cleaner and have more well defined and smoother lines separating them from the white. I hope it's next bloom session will be more attractive.

Wow!!! Love the bulbos and the masdi!!!!

Bulbophyllums and Masdevallias are among my favorites. I really love most Pleurothalids though.

Actually, I think your Masdie may be mislabeled as well. The flower form looks wrong.

Glad you discovered the bulbo's name -- it definitely had the wrong shape for guttulatum.

Oh, your harlequin phal is not that bad. I will agree with you that there are nicer ones out there, but still wouldn't slap that poor thing with an "ugly" label. ;)

I didn't think it was a M.amabilis either. Apparently it's cultivar 'D' grown by a Dr. Rolando from Peru.

You need to add a phragmipedium or a cyprepedium!!

  • #15
I do need a Phrag, soon. I grow several species of Cypripedium.

No, I was slacking this spring. I'll have to take some this year.

Nice plants!! I really need to post some pics of all of my orchids

I cannot wait till my sanderianum and its hybrids I have bloom!!! Cannot forget the rothchildianum either. Although those are both paphs. I just looked at my grow list and I will be darned I think I need to stalk out some phrags as well. I love the long petaled phrags. Is why I like sandeianum so much.

I have never really been good as the slippers. Can hardly get them to bloom, but I think I have been keeping them too dry. Using the water tray method now and seem to be picking up.
